Physiotherapy in Wilhelmshaven & Wiesmoor

Physiotherapy can help rebuild mobility, strength, coordination and load tolerance in a targeted way.

Physiotherapy starts where movement has become limited, painful or uncertain. Treatment is not only about a single muscle or joint, but about the movements that should work better in everyday life, work or sport.

Team Physiologic offers physiotherapy in Wilhelmshaven and Wiesmoor. Depending on prescription, assessment and goals, active exercises, hands-on techniques, training, decongestion, compression, kinesiology taping or coordination exercises close to daily life may be useful.

What physiotherapy may focus on

  • Improving mobility, strength, stability and coordination.
  • Supporting pain, swelling or functional limitations conservatively.
  • Practising daily movements such as walking, climbing stairs, reaching, standing up or work-related physical demands.

Therapeutic exercise (KG)

Known in German prescriptions as Krankengymnastik (KG), therapeutic exercise is a core physiotherapy treatment. It may include active exercises, guided movement and passive measures. The goal is to improve mobility, strength, coordination and the way everyday movements are performed.

KG may be used after injuries or surgery, for back and joint symptoms, muscular imbalances or functional limitations. Treatment begins with a physiotherapy assessment and is adapted to your load tolerance.

Possible elements

  • active exercises for mobility, strength and stability
  • passive mobilization or supportive positioning when movement is initially limited
  • coordination and balance exercises for safer movement patterns
  • exercises and guidance for everyday life, work or home practice

Therapeutic exercise (KG) is available in Wilhelmshaven and Wiesmoor.

Manual therapy (MT)

Manual therapy assesses and treats functional problems of the musculoskeletal system. It focuses on joints, muscles, nerves and the way these structures work together.

After a targeted assessment, we check mobility, pain patterns and load tolerance. From this, suitable hands-on techniques and active exercises can be selected to prepare and develop movement function.

Typical focus areas

  • mobilization of restricted joints
  • treatment of muscular tension and surrounding soft tissue
  • active exercises for stabilization and better movement control

Manual therapy is available at Team Physiologic in Wilhelmshaven and Wiesmoor.

Craniomandibular dysfunction (CMD/TMD)

Craniomandibular dysfunction describes functional problems involving the jaw joints, chewing muscles, skull and cervical spine. Symptoms may include jaw pain, restricted mouth opening, clicking, headaches or neck symptoms.

In physiotherapy for CMD/TMD, we assess jaw mobility, muscle tension, the cervical spine and everyday loading. Treatment may combine hands-on techniques, relaxation, coordination and home exercises for the jaw and neck, plus practical advice on rest and load management.

Possible focus areas

  • gently mobilize and relieve the jaw joint and chewing muscles
  • improve movement control, mouth opening and coordination between jaw, head and cervical spine
  • provide home exercises, relaxation strategies and practical guidance for clenching, grinding or heavy chewing load

CMD/TMD treatment is available within physiotherapy in Wilhelmshaven and Wiesmoor. If needed, please also coordinate treatment with your dentist or orthodontist.

Equipment-based exercise therapy (KG-G)

Equipment-based exercise therapy is therapeutically supervised training. Exercises are not selected from a standard plan, but are based on findings, prescription, load tolerance and therapy goals.

KG-G may be useful when strength, endurance, coordination or stability should be built up in a structured way. After symptoms, injuries or surgery, controlled training can support a safer and more gradual return to activity.

Training within a therapeutic frame

  • individually adapted exercises on medical training equipment
  • building strength, endurance and stability
  • checking execution, breaks and progression
  • preparing independent exercise when this fits the therapy goal

Equipment-based exercise therapy is available in Wilhelmshaven and Wiesmoor.

Manual lymph drainage (MLD) / outpatient decongestive therapy

Manual lymph drainage is a very gentle treatment using specific hand movements. It is intended to support the drainage of tissue fluid and may be used for swelling, lymphedema or other edema when medically indicated.

More extensive decongestive therapy is not limited to MLD. Skin care, compression and movement are often part of it. Which components make sense depends on the assessment, prescription and your everyday situation.

Components of decongestion

  • manual lymph drainage with calm, rhythmic techniques
  • compression, for example bandaging or prescribed garments
  • movement therapy to support muscle and joint function
  • advice on skin care, everyday habits and changes to report

Manual lymph drainage and outpatient decongestive therapy are available in Wilhelmshaven and Wiesmoor.

Compression therapy

Compression therapy can support decongestion by applying controlled external pressure to the tissue. It is often used in connection with lymphatic therapy or edema treatment.

The exact application depends on the prescription, findings and available compression products. It is important that compression, movement and skin care fit together and remain practical in daily life.

Compression therapy is available within physiotherapy in Wilhelmshaven and Wiesmoor.

Neurophysiological physiotherapy (KG ZNS)

KG ZNS is a neurological physiotherapy treatment. It focuses on movement control, coordination, postural control and functional abilities needed in everyday life.

Treatment is based on existing abilities and concrete daily situations. Depending on what is prescribed and therapeutically appropriate, practice may include changing position, standing up, walking, reaching or balance.

Possible goals

  • initiate, ease or stabilize movement patterns
  • support coordination and balance
  • practice daily functions and use existing abilities

KG ZNS is available in Wilhelmshaven and Wiesmoor. Please check during appointment booking which therapist is suitably available.

Massage

Classical therapeutic massage treats muscles and soft tissue with manual techniques. It may be used to influence muscular tension, stimulate circulation and support physiotherapy treatment.

Massage is often a complementary component. Depending on the symptoms, it can be combined with movement, stretching, body awareness exercises or active strengthening.

Massage is available in Wilhelmshaven and Wiesmoor.

Kinesiology taping

Kinesiology taping uses elastic tape applied to the skin while still allowing movement. It may be used as a complementary measure when additional sensory input, light support or improved movement awareness may be helpful in everyday life or training.

Whether kinesiology taping is suitable depends on the findings, the treatment goal and skin tolerance. It does not replace active therapy, but can accompany selected treatment phases, for example with muscular symptoms, functional irritation or body awareness for specific movement areas.

Good to know

  • The tape is applied individually and should feel comfortable to wear.
  • If there is skin irritation, open skin or a known adhesive allergy, kinesiology taping is not used or only after careful clarification.
  • The effect is individual; we discuss beforehand what goal the tape is intended to support.

Kinesiology taping is available in Wilhelmshaven and Wiesmoor.

Fall prevention

Fall prevention is aimed at people who feel less secure in everyday life or want to reduce their risk of falling. It focuses on balance, coordination, strength and reaction ability.

Exercises are selected to match your load tolerance. Possible goals include performing movements such as standing up, turning, walking or climbing stairs with more control and confidence.

Possible training content

  • balance and coordination exercises
  • strength building for legs, trunk and posture
  • practice of transfers, walking and changes of direction close to everyday life

Fall prevention is available in Wilhelmshaven and Wiesmoor.
